Hello Guys,

I am new to this and i am wondering how do i edit a string caption in the disasembler?  I can see the part i would like to edit but the only options i have are to "rename lable" or "add comment".

Any help on this would be greatfully appreciated.

Thank You

You cannot edit a string caption.

Results generated by the PE Explorer disassembler are for comparison purposes only. The generated output cannot be recompiled as is and has not been optimized for memory and processor usage.

This must be some misunderstanding. Editing a string caption in the disassembly does not make sense, there's no means to re-assemble the output, you can't put it back into an aplication format like it was. There can never be a completely automated disassembly tool which always outputs correct source code suitable for compilation. A disassembler is merely a reverse engineering tool, i.e. a tool of examination only.

If you want to edit a compiled EXE or DLL file, you can use a hex editor, such as FlexHEX editor to change tiny parts of an EXE, including string captions. If a string to be changed is in the resources, you may be able to do this by using the Resource Editor.
