Third party packer

I tried to scan an exe and Save It As..., but for some reason, it said 'Can't create new image file, the original file has been probably packed.' I know that PE explorer can only deal with UXP type but is there any way to find/analyze other packer and unpack it?
I tried to find any tutorial related to this issue from Tut4you site, but I simply couldn't find it and wasn't sure about it

PE Explorer automatically unpacks UPX-, Upack-, and Nspack-compressed files. Eventually we will add more unpacker plug-ins, until then those three are all there are.
You might want to start off with figuring out what packer was used. Use the utility called PEid.
