Assigning the value of a button to a key

Well I suppose the subject line pretty much covers my question. Basically I want to create a 'key bind' to do the same thing that pressing the appropriate button does. Is this possible using PE Explorer? I've absolutely no idea where to even begin.
Thanks for the help in advance.

It's called accelerators. They are closely related to menus both provide the user with access to an application's command set. Although accelerators typically generate commands that exist as menu items, they can also generate commands that have no equivalent menu items.
No, it is impossible to create new accelerators using PE Explorer. Accelerator IDs are hard coded into the target file, you can only edit the existing ones.

It's only possible on the source code level.
